SELF HELP GROUP

Self Help Group (SHG) is a method of organising the poor people and the marginalized to come together to solve their individual problem. The 9th five-year plan of the government of India had given due recognition on the importance and the relevance of the Self-help group method to implement developmental schemes at the grassroots level. The SHG method is used by the Santhivardhana ministries for economic changes through SHGs at Peddapuram and Kotananduru mandals of east Godavari district. Disable person, Leprosy, HIV/AIDS and poorest of the poorare faced with problems related to poverty illiteracy, lack of skills health care etc. These are problems that cannot be tackled individually but can be better solved through group efforts. In the year 2018, Santhivardhana Ministries has been associated with Dewan Foundation with liaising through Brighter Futures and formed Santhivardhana Social Awareness Development Foundation (SVSADF) for differently abled, leprosy, HIV/AIDS and poorest of the poor SHGs and provided loans for income generation activities. These SHGs formed by the poor to they receive easy access to loans with a small rate of interest to start their micro unit enterprise. 925 of the disable poor and the marginalized population are building their lives, their families and their society through Self-help groups of Santhivardhana.

The formation of these special SHGs not only for the income generation activities and it is acting for social change and social development through women empowerment, sensitization on early detection of disability, prevention and treatment of leprosy and HIV/AIDS and elimination of poverty. The Santhivardhana provided 925 individual IGP loans with 52 types of different IGP activities.
